Sometimes, a few seconds are all it takes.

When a Tour de France or Giro d’Italia team pulls into a hotel parking lot, it may be carrying more than three dozen race bikes worth up to $15,000 each, along with a small fortune in spare wheels, tools, race equipment, and team gear.

Across a typical WorldTour season, hundreds of these bikes are targeted by organized theft rings, making overnight security a constant concern.

During this year’s Giro, one men’s professional team deployed the 3BO.MOBI system, discreetly placing sensors on bikes and at key access points inside their team trucks after every stage.

“If someone touches the truck door, a hidden sensor immediately sends an alert,” said Carinus Lemmer. “If the truck is forced open, the escalation starts immediately.”
